Here are some of the most frequently asked questions that we receive about our Labradors. Taking the time to look through these will greatly benefit you before giving us a call. If you have any other questions not found on this page, feel free to email us at gene@smokymtnlabradors.com.

Questions About Smoky Mtn Labradors:

  • We are located in Knoxville, Tennessee.

  • We would love to meet you! If the puppy is picked up in the State of Tennessee, we are required by Tennessee Law to collect State Sales Tax (9.75%). We are now delivering over 95% of our puppies for the safety of our personnel and clients. Information on delivery options is available on our Pickup & Delivery page. All the charges related to delivery are additional to the purchase price of the puppy.

  • We have some of the most qualified personnel to bring your puppy via airplane.

We offer private delivery through Smoky Mtn Labradors. Our drivers are very experienced in delivering our puppies, and thanks to technology, we are able to show you your puppy on its journey along the way. We offer delivery anywhere in the continuous United States.

If you choose to use a third party delivery service, Smoky Mountain Labradors will not be held liable for any events that may occur after the puppy has left our kennel.

  • Over the years we have had so many people place deposits after we have worked tirelessly to produce their puppy and then back out. Most people simply are not aware of the extensive work that goes into raising a litter of puppies. With the rising costs of veterinarian bills, surgical implants and C-sections, as well as the labor involved in raising a litter, we desire to be in relationships with only very serious Labrador buyers. We typically see the wait time of 6 months to a year for our pups and most are paid for before they are even born. The demand for a Smoky Mtn Labrador puppy is beyond anything we would have ever believed.

Puppy Training:

  • We offer two different levels of training. You can read more about our complete training process on the Our Process page.

Puppy Registration:

  • Once your pup has been safely delivered and examined by your local veterinarian, and you feel that this the perfect fit for you and your family, Smoky Mtn Labs will transfer your AKC limited registration in the mail. You can expect to receive it in 3-5 business days.

Puppy Health:

  • With so much information at our fingertips, it can be confusing what to trust. We strongly suggest you approach all online advice with high caution. Being selective in your online research can help you make informed decisions that benefit your puppy’s health and well-being. Everything you come across should be thoroughly reviewed by your local veterinary professionals. We are more than happy to give you our suggestions on food, vaccines, supplements, etc, but at the end of the day, it is best to consult and trust the pet care professionals.

Other Common Questions:

  • We prefer a phone call, but we also respond to emails. We only ask that you thoroughly go through our website here before you call. All contact information can be found at the bottom of each page and on our Contact Us page.

  • All of our puppies are invoiced through our accounting office here the day of the puppy choice. Once you determine the level and have spoken to Gene, our office will bill you for the entire puppy. (All Credit Cards are available with a 3% Fee or using a Bank Draft is no additional charge) This protects you (the buyer) and us as the seller.  We do not receive cash for any of our puppies. All puppies will have an invoice attached to them for proper and ethical accounting with all governmental regulations.

  • Smoky Mtn Labradors has a non-refundable policy once a a puppy has been purchased. There is only one exception to this policy, and that has to do with any potential failed medical examinations of your puppy at your veterinarian office within the first 7 days of arriving at your home. One of the things that set us apart is that all of our puppies here at Smoky Mtn Labradors have been thoroughly examined by our own veterinarian before we even begin to show you pictures or even before the selection of your puppy. We have found that this process eliminates any disappoint for your family. Only once a puppy has been returned to us upon failing an exam will a refund be issued. Below is more information concerning the health examination process: (Smoky Mtn Never refunds any part of the Training) Our trainers are independent from our kennel. Please review their contract extensively.

Initial Health Exam - In order for the health warranty to be valid, the purchaser agrees to have the puppy examined by a veterinarian within 3 working days of the transfer. If at that time the puppy is diagnosed with an existing medical problem, the puppy may be returned for a full refund. If requested by the Breeder, the purchaser must provide the Breeder with an evaluation from a second veterinarian of the Breeder’s choice at the Breeder’s expense prior to any payment. Smoky Mtn. Labradors must be informed immediately of the initial vet examination by email at gene@smokymtnlabradors.com. If we do not receive notice of the vet examination, all guarantees are no longer valid.

If the buyer’s vet establishes a major problem with the puppy upon initial examination, which would identify any genetic illness, then the buyer should initiate a claim for the puppy. At the buyer’s expense, the buyer should return the puppy to the seller if the seller requests so to be done. There is a very specific protocol for this - please contact our office immediately. Smoky Mtn is known around the nation for the highest level of customer service in the Labrador World.

Due to Parvo Virus and Kennel Cough running rampant at veterinarian offices, local pet stores , and road side rest areas around the country, Smoky Mtn Kennels is not liable for this disease.
